Cedar Rapids School District launches online engagement site

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is pleased to announce the launch of Engage CRSchools, a new comprehensive community involvement website, developed by MindMixer, where parents and community members can communicate and collaborate with District leaders and others on the future of the school district.

Engage CR Schools will be used as an online tool to generate new ideas and feedback from citizens on long and short term planning for the District. The goal is to obtain widespread input from parents and promote transparency. Feedback from the engagement website will be used by the District to guide the planning process in the months and years to come.

“The new Engage CRSchools site will give contributors a chance to share new ideas, second others’ ideas, expand upon existing ideas and give feedback on initiatives,” noted Dr. Dave Benson, Superintendent. “We are pleased to invite the community to engage with us on a variety of topics - online anytime, anywhere.”

The discussion will start with topics like these, and branch off from there based on input:

• What is your vision for technology in the schools?

• How should we balance the need to prioritize STEM subjects with the desire to provide well-rounded experiences and access to other subjects?

• What information are you looking for when you visit your school’s website?

The site also measures and tracks participation, identifying the most interested citizens and most compelling topics. MindMixer’s tools make it easy for administrations to communicate back with citizens, and they deliver measurable results and invaluable insights for the planning process.

"Our tools go beyond just technology,” explained Nick Bowden, MindMixer CEO. “Our mission is to build community contributors. Ideas, voices and perspectives are shared to facilitate deeper and better conversations that yield actionable insights and a stronger community.”

As part of its service, MindMixer consults and collaborates with clients to identify issues that are critical to stakeholders in order to update topics and content for their websites.

To access the site, visit the District Web site at www.cr.k12.ia.us and click on the Engage CRSchools icon.
