Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts Executive Bowl

Fifteen leaders from area companies and organizations participated in the Executive Bowl hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids and East Central Iowa on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Cedar Rapids Bowling Center. The Executive Bowl is an opportunity for companies to show their support of Big Brothers Big Sisters, help raise awareness and promote the upcoming event in February within their own companies and throughout the community during this Bowl For Kids’ Sake Week.

Participating executives arrived bright and early, ready to compete with their peers, bowling just three frames. All in fun, the King Pin award went to Tracy Sankot (Pearson) with the top score! While a few executives watched from the sideline, several were in it to win it! We saw several strikes to start the morning and Mike Trachta (Mercy Medical Center) placed 2nd while Randy Ramlo (United Fire) and Kevin Myers (Rockwell Collins Materials and Supply) tied for 3rd. Veteran bowler, John Rodriguez (Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust) tied with Michael Ehler (Intermec). Close behind was Tom Metelmann (Quaker Oats) and Ted Townsend (St. Luke’s Hospital). Kevin Jasper (hibu) did a great job here but an even greater job engaging many new employees for February’s event! We were all quite impressed when Robin Todd (Transamerica-Diversified) declined to use Cedar Rapids Bowling Center’s shoes and ball – she had her own and, prepped like a pro, made others take notice. Several bowlers ducked out before we recorded their final scores but we were happy to have them there to support Big Brothers Big Sisters, including, Steve Myers (Transamerica), Tom Haley (US Bank), Al Ruffalo (RuffaloCODY), Stephanie Neighbor (Farmers State Bank) and Bob Helgens (Hybrid Transit Systems). Everyone had a great time and reminded us that it’s really not about bowling – it’s about having fun to help youth succeed! We’re looking forward to a record turnout this year at Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2013 which gets underway February 5th – February 28th. Call (319)-377-8993 to get involved!
