Michelle Altmaier (see photo) joined Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids as coordinator of Women’s and Children’s Services for Mercy’s Birthplace. Altmaier previously was director of Children’s Miracle Network at University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
Casey Westhoff joined Systems Unlimited in Iowa City as executive director. Westhoff had been executive director of the Arc of Iowa.
Honkamp Krueger & Co. announced two promotions to firm partnership. Katie J. Thomas (see photo) became accounting manager in 2009. Adam R. Reisch (see photo) was promoted to accounting manager in 2011.
The Rev. Kay Mineck (see photo) and the Rev. Paul Monska (see photo), chaplains for Meth-Wick Community, received the 2012 Employee of the Year Award-Support and Services Staff from Leading Age Iowa, an association of not-for-profit senior services providers.
The renovation of the University of Iowa’s Carver-Hawkeye Arena received a 2012 Best Projects Sports/Entertainment Award of Merit from ENR Midwest, an engineering industry publication. The $28 million project was designed by Neumann Monson Architects, Iowa City, with engineering design by KJWW Engineering Consultants and M2B Structural Engineers, both of Cedar Rapids. General contractor was Knutson Construction, Iowa City.
