Homers -- What's going right

CALLING BATTLESHIP VETERANS: Jeff Lamberti, a former Iowa legislator, is compiling the names of all the Iowa veterans who served on the decommissioned USS Iowa battleship, now a floating museum off San Pedro, Calif. Lamberti is collaborating with the Iowa All-Academy Ball to invite USS Iowa veterans to the event on Dec. 29 for special recognition. The ball annually honored graduates of the five U.S. service academies. To help with the name database, contact Lamberti at jeff.lamberti@ankenylaw.com or (515) 964-8777.

SENATE GOES LIVE: The Iowa Senate will be livestreaming video from floor debates during the 2013 session. The Iowa House added the service last January.

JOB CREATOR: RuffaloCODY, a Cedar Rapids company, ranks No. 3 nationally for creating the most jobs in the last three years, according to Inc. magazine’s first such list. The firm added 1,700 jobs.

BELATED THANKS: Cedar Rapids’ new west-side branch library will be named after the late Marilyn Ladd, whose surprise $750,0000 gift is the library’s largest ever from an individual.
