Join the Editoral Board's discussion team
By Jeff Tecklenburg
The Gazette Editorial Board is looking for a “few good residents” — civic-minded folks from this area who are interested in joining our new Community Conversation Corps.
Members will participate in weekly Editorial Board discussions about issues of public interest. They will be encouraged to ask questions and offer ideas and feedback. And there will be opportunities to write guest columns or blog about their experiences and viewpoints in The Gazette or on thegazette.com.
The primary qualifications we’re looking for in potential candidates are two:
l Strong connections to your community and/or neighborhood.
l Open-minded approach to public policy and community-building (this is not a forum for personal agendas).
Initially, we plan to select three people to participate in Editorial Board discussions, including our interviews with political candidates. After a few months, we’ll rotate in new members. Note: Publicly elected officials or political candidates are not eligible for this group. (Otherwise, they might wind up interviewing themselves!)
We are creating the Community Conversation Corps as another way to stay in touch with the neighborhoods and communities our company serves, develop a more robust conversation and help us understand what issues are important to area residents.
