Investigators return to lake in search for missing girls, but 'no positive results'
Girls reported missing in Evansdale July 13
FBI officials returned to Meyers Lake Friday to follow up on a lead in the search for two cousins who have been missing for three weeks.
Sandra Breault, spokeswoman for the FBI, confirmed authorities were at the lake in Evansdale. She said the search yielded "no positive results."
The girls' bicycles were recovered at Meyers Lake by a local firefighter at 4 p.m. on July 13. The girls were last seen riding their bicycles in downtown Evansdale at 12:15 p.m.
In the days following the search, FBI bloodhounds also indicated the girls' scent was in the area near Meyers Lake.
Meyers Lake has been searched by volunteers, local officials and the FBI. The lake was also partially drained before the FBI sent in a special dive team to search the waters.
Authorities said they are confident the girls are not in Meyers Lake.
Authorities are asking anyone who saw the girls to call the Tip Line, (319) 232-6682. It’s manned 24 hours.
A reward of $50,000 has also been offered to the person or persons who can help find the girls.
