Multiple people were taken to area hospitals Wednesday night after a semi-trailer truck collided with a church van on Highway 151 near Anamosa.

Jones County Sheriff Greg Graver said the van was slowing to turn into the parking lot of the Apostolic Assembly of Anamosa, 9527 Highway 151, when it was struck in the rear by the semi. The van was carrying upwards of 10 people, Graver said.

Graver was unsure exactly how many of the van's passengers were hospitalized, but one was airlifted from the scene, he said. The passengers ranged in age from 5 to 64. All patients were awake and talking to officers on the scene.

Those with injuries were taken to either the Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa, Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids or St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

In addition to the Jones County Sheriff's Office, Anamosa police and fire, Monticello police, Olin ambulance, and area ambulance all responded to the accident.

The semi's driver and a passenger were uninjured.

Graver said officers are still in the process of making sure everyone is accounted for and parents are notified.
