Ferentz says change is coming on offense
I tried to add some info to the videos on YouTube. Have had quite a few questions asking to do that, so done.
KF's intro, the health situation (DLs Dominic Alvis and Carl Davis iffy for spring practice) and position changes. There are no position changes. One player was discussed, but no changes, at least no dramatic ones.
Positive update on OL Nolan MacMillan, lots o' change coming to the offense (KF's words, could very well be a bluff). He also talks about the impetus for change. There wasn't a eureka moment (or at least there wasn't one that he wanted to speak on), but he was heading toward change with or without the turnover on staff. Paraphrasing, but "personnel have to match the playbook." I expect a ton of flexibility.
What the changes might mean for James Vandenberg, whose 404 pass attempts last season were second in Iowa history to Chuck Hartlieb's 460 in 1988. Also, some stuff on the secondary.
KF was asked about running the ball, James Vandenberg without Marvin McNutt, backup QB Jake Rudock. I asked if he expected to come out of spring with a No. 1 RB. He said yes.
This one got cut short, but he talks about OC Greg Davis being in the press box. No, DC Phil Parker hasn't decided if it's press box or sidlines. I packed up, but he discussed linebacker. Dakota Getz is a little limited with the knee. James Morris can play all three positions. Christian Kirksey can play two of the three.Coach Ferentz - 03 20 12
