Iowa's Roy Devyn Marble advances to finals of Geico Play of the Year

2012 GEICO Play of the Year Announced on CBS Elite Eight Weekend

CHICAGO – Iowa’s sophomore guard/forward Roy Devyn Marble advanced to the finals of the 2012 GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today. Each week for eight weeks, fans vote for the GEICO Play of the Year ( and the winner will be announced on GEICO presents Best of College Basketball 2012 on CBS March 25 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

In addition to recognizing the season’s top plays, the one-hour CBS special will relive the season’s greatest moments, players and traditions. The show also marks the culmination of the GEICO Best of 2012 Basketball Tour, an interactive fan experience that visits 10 marquee games throughout the basketball season.

Each week for eight weeks, four incredible college basketball plays will be nominated as the Play of the Year on the GEICO Best of College Basketball Facebook page Fans determine the winners by voting for their favorite GEICO Play of the Year nominee.

During Iowa’s game against Big 10-rival Minnesota, Marble curled around a screen set by Zach McCabe at the top of the key, and drove hard for the basket. The help-side defense was late and Marble threw down a monster jam in the face of Gopher Ralph Sampson III. The Hawkeye’s defeated Minnesota 63-59. To view the play on YouTube visit:

Marble joins Syracuse’s CJ Fair, Louisville’s Peyton Siva, Lindsey Wilson’s Chase Spreen, Indiana’s Christian Watford, Purdue’s Robbie Hummel, and Oral Roberts Damen Bell-Holter as this year’s first five finalists.
